02 / Problem

Most contractors are invisible to 80% of the people looking for exactly what they do.

When a homeowner Googles "plumber near me" at 9pm on a Tuesday with water on their kitchen floor, three businesses show up in the map pack. That's it. The rest of the results may as well not exist.

The businesses that make it into those top 3 spots aren't better plumbers. They haven't been around longer. They don't have magical websites.

They just understand a handful of signals that Google uses to rank local businesses — and most of their competitors don't. That's the entire game.

Finding 01 — Technical
Two competing domains splitting SEO authority.
A legacy domain was still partially active, fragmenting signals Google uses to rank the business.
Finding 02 — Reputation
23 Google reviews vs. a competitor's 89.
A credible operator with strong word-of-mouth, but a review gap that shows up in every local search.
Finding 03 — Citations
Missing from 10+ major directories.
Yelp, BBB, Angi, Thumbtack — all absent. Each one is a signal Google weighs when deciding who ranks where.
05 / The Data

What Google actually weighs when deciding who shows up.

Google Business Profile Signals 32%
Categories, completeness, photos, services. The #1 controllable factor. A plumber listed as "contractor" loses to actual plumbers every time.
On-Page SEO Signals 19%
City-specific landing pages, service pages, mobile speed. The most underutilized lever — ~70% of contractors don't have dedicated service pages.
Review Signals 16–20%
Volume, velocity, rating, and owner responses. A business with 80 recent reviews now outranks one with 200 stale reviews.
Link & Citation Signals ~13%
Five citations from Yelp, BBB, and Angi outweigh 30 from low-quality directories. Quality over quantity.

80%+
Businesses that respond to 80% or more of their Google reviews see a measurable ranking boost. Google doesn't just count your reviews — it analyzes your response patterns, review velocity, and whether customers mention specific services and locations.

Why this matters for the audit: Every finding in your report maps directly to one of these ranking factors. When we tell you your review count is low, that's 16-20% of your ranking. When we flag missing service pages, that's another 19%. These aren't opinions — they're the documented signals Google uses to decide which three businesses show up when someone in your area searches for what you do.

08 / Questions

A few things people ask.

Can I implement the recommendations myself?
Yes — that's the point. Most of what we recommend is work you or someone on your team can do in an afternoon or two. The report tells you what to do in plain English, with specific steps. If you want a second set of eyes on any of it, just reply to your delivery email.
What kinds of businesses is this for?
Local service contractors primarily — plumbers, HVAC, electricians, roofers, sealcoaters, paving, landscaping, remodeling, and similar trades. If you serve customers in a defined geographic area and rely on Google to bring in work, the audit applies. If you're a national brand or a purely online business, this isn't the right fit.
Do you guarantee results?
No. Anyone who guarantees you a #1 ranking on Google within 30 days is lying or doesn't understand the business. What we guarantee is a specific, accurate report about what's hurting your local visibility right now — and a reasonable plan to fix it.
What if the audit doesn't show anything useful?
If the report doesn't contain at least three specific, actionable findings you weren't already aware of, reply within 7 days and we'll refund you. This has never happened yet.
Is this just a sales pitch for something bigger?
No. There's no implementation package, no monthly retainer, no done-for-you service we're angling toward. The audit is the product. If you want help later, reply to your email — we'll point you in the right direction.
